Greetings! I'm Katherine Doig, affectionately also known as KC for short. I’m based in Los Angeles, California. I am open to remote work, relocating, or traveling for a great opportunity. I recently graduated from Kent State University with a master's degree in UX Design, complemented by my bachelor’s in Cultural Anthropology from California State University, Fullerton. With my background, I bring a distinctive blend of cultural understanding and design expertise. My personal areas of interest are UX Research and Accessibility.

My journey into UX Design was inspired by the parallels between Anthropology and UX Design. Both fields share many core values. Both disciplines have ideologies that embrace a user-centered approach, while also having very similar research methodologies. Thus, my foundation in Cultural Anthropology has seamlessly aligned with my UX career.

What I have gleaned from their similarities is that UX focuses on contextual design, which emphasizes the understanding of the environment and mindset a user is in while completing tasks and interacting with a product. While similarly, Cultural Anthropology looks to contextual understanding of one’s environment and history to fully understand a community and their behaviors. UX Research and ethnographic research have so many things in common and have become my foundation of how I work.

Furthermore, I am perpetually curious about the world we live in. I have always been a lifelong learner of the human condition. Education has always been my primary interest. I am enthusiastic about helping people by problem-solving issues that will streamline and simplify their lives. Everyone deserves to have their everyday interactions with technology to be effortless. My personal philosophy is that design should be invisible and easily incorporated into one’s lifestyle. I believe that perfection will always be elusive, but continuous improvements are within reach.

Embarking on my UX career, I am eager for the exciting opportunities that lie ahead. My personal goals involve honing my UX Design and Research skills to deliver elevated and effortless user experiences. As I evolve, my overarching career goal is to continuously learn from others and create experiences that I am proud of creating.

In addition to being an empathic individual and an adept team player, I thrive on collaboration. A positive outlook, a love for laughter, and an appreciation for life's simple pleasures are what define me. During my down time you can either find me traveling, hiking while shooting with my 35mm film camera, or reading a mystery/thriller novel while snuggling with my dogs.
